The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) inspected 115 mobile network sites across eight cities between September 30 and October 7, 2026, in an effort to assess the quality and availability of mobile services.

According to a report carried by the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan citing the regulator, PTA zonal teams examined 39 sites in Lahore, 17 in Karachi, 16 in Sukkur, 14 each in Multan and Rawalpindi, eight in Quetta, four in Abbottabad and three in Gilgit. Together, those figures account for all 115 inspections.

The teams assessed voice and mobile data performance, network coverage and whether backup power arrangements were available. Such checks can help identify service weaknesses, particularly where power interruptions affect the reliability of mobile towers.

The inspection count is a measure of regulatory activity, not proof that coverage or call quality has already improved. The available account did not provide independently verified before-and-after performance figures or a city-by-city list of corrective orders. Any improvements would need to be established through subsequent measurements.

The inspections are separate from PTA’s previously reported district-level broadband licensing programme, which concerns market access for internet service providers rather than mobile site quality checks.
