Hosting and security

Our Cloudflare hosting and security services may process technical information such as IP addresses, requested pages and browser information to deliver and protect the website. Declining optional analytics does not prevent this processing.

Optional Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 only when you choose Allow analytics. Until then, our website does not load Google’s analytics script or send analytics events through this integration. Choosing Decline, leaving the notice unanswered or browsing without JavaScript keeps this analytics integration off.

When allowed, Google Analytics uses first-party cookies, including _ga and _ga_…, and identifiers to help measure visits, page activity, referral sources, browser/device information and approximate geographic information. This helps us understand which reporting readers use and how they reach the publication. Google processes the information for analytics; see how Google uses information from sites using its services and Google’s Privacy Policy.

This integration does not include advertising destinations, Google Signals, Meta Pixel or a Google Tag Manager container. We do not send names, email addresses or other contact information as analytics event fields.

Your choice and changing it

The notice offers Allow analytics and Decline with equal prominence. We save your selection in this browser’s local storage under pakistan-report.analytics-choice.v1 for 180 days from your selection, after which we ask again. This preference stores your choice and its expiry, not an advertising identifier. It is separate from Google’s analytics cookies.

You can change your choice at any time using Analytics preferences in the footer. Selecting Decline stops future collection through this integration, attempts to remove accessible first-party GA analytics cookies on this site, and reloads the page if analytics had already started. The saved decline prevents analytics from loading on later visits in that browser until you change it or the choice expires.

Withdrawal cannot recall information already sent to Google or cancel a request already in flight. Our code cannot remove cookies belonging to other websites or cookies that browser restrictions make inaccessible. Data already collected is subject to the analytics property’s retention settings and Google’s processing terms. Contact us with questions about retained information.

Your choice applies to this browser and site origin. Other browsers, devices, private-browsing sessions or a future domain may require a new choice. Clearing local storage removes the saved choice. If browser storage is unavailable, analytics defaults to off on a new page unless you choose Allow again; a choice may not be remembered.

Advertising and Google AdSense readiness

Pakistan Report has applied to participate in Google AdSense. AdSense advertisements are not currently described as active on this website by this policy. An AdSense application, publisher verification tag or ads.txt entry does not by itself mean that advertising cookies are being set or ads are being served.

If Google AdSense advertising is activated, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, browser or device information and other identifiers to deliver, measure and, where permitted, personalize advertisements. Third-party advertising vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on visits to this website and other websites. Depending on the visitor’s location and choices, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.

Google explains how it uses information from sites and apps that use its services. Visitors can review advertising choices in Google My Ad Center and learn about Google’s advertising technologies. Browser settings may also allow visitors to restrict cookies, although this can affect website functions.

Analytics consent is not advertising consent. The existing Allow analytics / Decline controls govern the optional Google Analytics integration described above; they do not constitute consent for personalized ads. Before advertising is enabled in jurisdictions requiring additional consent or transparency, Pakistan Report will implement the applicable advertising privacy notices and consent controls, including any Google-certified consent-management platform requirements. This policy will be updated to reflect the advertising services actually in use.
