ISLAMABAD, October 29, 2026 — Pakistan has shortlisted ten government services for digital delivery under a $78 million World Bank-supported programme aimed at making public services easier to access and reducing duplication across government departments.
The Digital Economy Enhancement Project is being implemented with the involvement of the National Information Technology Board and the National Database and Registration Authority.
According to recent project updates, authorities have developed and tested a pilot citizen-services portal intended to bring different government functions together through a unified digital platform.
The initiative includes a single sign-on system connected to the National Data Exchange Layer, which is designed to allow participating departments to exchange information securely.
Officials are also developing digital identity services that could simplify verification and reduce the need for citizens to repeatedly submit the same documents.
The Pak App has been released for Android and iOS, with some services integrated and several identity documents made available through digital storage features.
However, the shortlisting of ten services does not mean that all are already accessible nationwide.
The wider programme includes foundational digital infrastructure, a national citizen-services portal, digital business regulation and technology initiatives intended to improve public-sector delivery.
A Pakistan Business Portal is also planned to simplify access to regulatory information and business-related services.
If implemented effectively, the system could reduce paperwork, improve coordination between departments and save time for people seeking routine government services.
Its success will depend on reliable technical infrastructure, data protection, accessibility and cooperation among federal and provincial institutions.
Further official updates will be needed to establish when each shortlisted service becomes fully operational and which citizens can use it.
