Pakistan’s Tech Connect programme opened in Silicon Valley on October 18, bringing Pakistani technology companies together with US entrepreneurs and industry representatives as Islamabad seeks to expand business ties.

The event featured company presentations and discussions about entering the American market, winning customers and developing international teams, according to a government statement.

The government did not announce a value for new investment agreements or identify any contracts signed at the opening event.

Three more US events planned

The programme is scheduled to continue in Dallas on October 19, Washington on October 21 and Chicago on October 23.

Organised through Pakistan’s embassy and consulates in the United States in coordination with the Pakistan Software Export Board, Tech Connect is intended to connect Pakistani IT businesses with potential clients and investors.

Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, urged stronger commercial links and promoted the country as a destination for technology partnerships.

Business discussions, with results still to come

For participating companies, the value of the programme will depend on whether the meetings lead to customers, contracts or investment.

The government’s opening-day announcement described discussions and networking opportunities but gave no confirmed deal total. Further announcements from organisers or companies may provide a clearer picture as the remaining events take place.
