ISLAMABAD, November 4, 2026: Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has criticised remarks by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman concerning Pakistan’s regional diplomatic efforts.

Speaking in the National Assembly on October 29, Asif said political parties should recognise Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace despite their differences.

He expressed concern over Fazlur Rehman’s comments made during the previous day’s parliamentary proceedings.

Defence Minister Calls for Political Unity

Asif said Pakistan was facing challenging regional circumstances and stressed the importance of political unity on matters involving national interests.

He also clarified that no defence agreement was being signed in Tehran, responding to questions surrounding Pakistan’s regional security arrangements.

The exchange highlighted differences between government and opposition figures over the country’s diplomatic approach.

Asif maintained that political disagreements should not overshadow Pakistan’s efforts to support regional stability.
