ISLAMABAD, October 29, 2026 — The federal government has increased petrol and high-speed diesel prices, with the revised rates taking effect on Thursday under Pakistan’s new daily fuel-pricing mechanism.

According to the Petroleum Division, petrol has risen by Rs1.85 to Rs377.91 per litre, while high-speed diesel has increased by Rs1.75 to Rs399.82 per litre.

The previous prices were Rs376.06 for petrol and Rs398.07 for diesel.

The government attributed the adjustments to international market developments, including changes in refined petroleum prices, premiums and related import costs.

The revised system allows fuel prices to be reviewed daily instead of following the earlier weekly schedule. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority is expected to publish updated rates, allowing changes in international markets to be reflected more quickly in domestic prices.

Although the latest increases are relatively small, fuel costs remain significant for households and businesses.

At the new petrol rate, filling a 40-litre tank costs approximately Rs15,116.

Diesel prices are particularly important for goods transport, agriculture and commercial vehicles. Higher diesel costs can add pressure to operating expenses, although the impact on retail prices depends on several other factors.

Pakistan’s fuel-pricing system has become more responsive to international fluctuations amid volatility in global energy markets.

The latest revision illustrates how even modest daily changes can affect consumers when pump prices are already elevated.

Future prices will depend on international petroleum markets, import-related costs and subsequent government notifications.
