Pakistan’s special fuel relief scheme has recorded approximately 7.6 million registrations nationwide, with 7.71 million fuel-relief tokens redeemed, according to figures presented at a government review meeting.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar chaired the meeting of the National Steering Committee on Fuel Subsidy, which examined the programme’s registration process, token redemptions, payments and complaints system.
Officials briefed the committee on the scheme’s progress as it entered its second week of token redemptions. They reported around 7.6 million completed registrations and 7.71 million redeemed tokens.
The two totals reflect different measures of activity. Registrations count enrolments in the programme, while token redemptions record use of the fuel-relief benefit. A registered participant may redeem more than one token during the scheme.
Dar directed the relevant authorities to maintain close coordination and ensure that beneficiaries can access the relief smoothly. The committee also reviewed payment arrangements and the handling of complaints.
The programme involves the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ministry of Petroleum, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, State Bank of Pakistan and provincial governments.
The Prime Minister’s Special Fuel Relief Scheme is intended to provide targeted support as higher fuel costs affect households and transport users. The registration and redemption figures show the scale of participation reported by the government.
Officials will continue monitoring payments, service delivery and complaints as implementation progresses across the country.
