The federal government is considering its options over the political and security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa amid a confrontation with the PTI-led provincial government. Reports on Saturday said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was expected to review the situation.

KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said decisions on governor’s rule or an emergency rested with federal authorities. His remarks came as Chief Minister Sohail Afridi continued to lead a PTI protest march and both sides exchanged criticism over governance and security.

No emergency or governor’s rule has been declared in the reporting reviewed. Any such development would require a fresh official confirmation and legal scrutiny.
