GWADAR: Security forces killed three suspected militants while foiling an attempted attack on an unoccupied construction company camp in Gwadar, Balochistan, according to security officials cited by state media on October 22.

The camp was empty when the attackers approached, and security personnel responded before the assault could be carried out.

Officials said three additional suspected militants had been surrounded during the operation.

A separate security operation was also reported at a hotel near the Gwadar Highway, where four suspected attackers were said to have been encircled.

According to the initial account, the General Officer Commanding in Gwadar was personally supervising the operations.

Security sources described the attackers as members of a group they called Fitna al-Hindustan, a designation used by Pakistani authorities for certain Baloch militant organisations.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security personnel involved and said counterterrorism operations would continue against armed groups and their facilitators.

Subsequent reporting indicated that vehicles parked near the construction site had been set on fire. Officials reported no casualties at the empty camp itself.

The operations came amid continued militant activity in Balochistan, where attacks have targeted security installations, transport routes and civilian infrastructure.

Initial reports confirmed three militants killed at the construction camp, but did not establish the final outcome of the separate hotel operation.

Authorities had not released a consolidated casualty count or confirmed the status of all suspects reported surrounded at the two locations.
