A Pakistan Army major was killed in an explosive attack during security operations in Balochistan, while four suspected militants were killed in a separate operation in Kalat district, the military said on Monday, October 19.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said security forces carried out operations on October 18 in Jattakabad, Kalat, and in the Shadi Kaur area near Pasni in Gwadar district. Its account was reported by Dawn and The Nation.
Separate incidents in Kalat and Gwadar
According to ISPR, troops killed four militants during an intelligence-based operation in Jattakabad and recovered weapons and ammunition. The military said the operation was launched after reports of militant hideouts in the area.
In Gwadar district, an improvised explosive device struck security personnel during clearance operations, killing an army major, according to the military’s statement.
The two incidents took place in different districts. The reported deaths of the four militants should not be confused with the fatal attack on the officer.
Security concerns in Balochistan
The operations highlight the continuing security challenge in Balochistan, where militant attacks and military operations have affected communities and transport routes.
