ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Canada held the third round of negotiations on a proposed bilateral investment treaty from October 19 to 21, 2026, in Islamabad.
The discussions took place at the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and focused on advancing a framework for investment relations between the two countries.
The negotiations form part of a continuing process to discuss rules and protections for investors. The conclusion of a negotiating round does not mean a treaty has been signed or entered into force.
Bilateral Economic Relations
Pakistan and Canada maintain trade and investment ties across a range of sectors. Bilateral merchandise trade was approximately US$1.2 billion in 2025, according to figures cited in the reporting on the relationship.
An eventual investment agreement would depend on the outcome of negotiations and any required government approval and legal procedures.
Neither the conclusion of the talks nor a date for signing a final treaty was announced as part of the third round.
