Houthi-linked media reported on Tuesday, October 13, that a Saudi-led coalition had carried out airstrikes against an oil facility west of Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, following an evacuation warning issued by the coalition.
The Al-Masirah broadcaster attributed strikes on facilities in the Al-Sabaha area to the coalition, but did not provide evidence establishing the targets or the extent of damage, according to the Associated Press.
Witnesses in Sanaa reported hearing explosions. At the time of the initial AP report, it was not immediately clear what had been hit.
Earlier, coalition spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki called on civilians to leave the Yemen Petroleum Company’s Al-Sabaha central station ahead of a planned military operation. The coalition released a map identifying the area covered by the warning, according to Anadolu Agency.
The developments come amid renewed tensions involving the Saudi-led coalition and Yemen’s Houthi movement, raising concerns about civilian safety and regional energy infrastructure.
The precise targets, physical damage and any casualties were not independently established in the reporting reviewed for this article. Claims about the attack should therefore remain attributed to their sources until corroborated.
