Pakistan’s government has established a $10 million Green Field Fund to support startups and young innovators developing solutions in science, technology and climate-related fields, according to Climate Change Minister Musadik Malik.

The minister announced the initiative while addressing the opening session of the 29th Sustainable Development Conference in Islamabad.

Supporting local innovation

According to Radio Pakistan, the fund is intended to encourage new ideas and technological solutions to environmental and development challenges.

The initiative highlights the government’s interest in supporting entrepreneurs and researchers working on practical climate-related innovations.

Rethinking development priorities

Speaking at the conference, Malik said changing economic conditions and climate pressures required Pakistan to reconsider how development projects were planned and implemented.

He called for a broader approach that considers long-term sustainability alongside economic growth.

The Green Field Fund could provide opportunities for Pakistani startups developing climate technologies and other science-based solutions.
