The government has reduced the price of petrol by Rs1.93 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs4.21 per litre, with the revised rates taking effect on September 24.
Petrol now costs Rs390.12 per litre, down from Rs392.05, while high-speed diesel has fallen to Rs414.75 per litre from Rs418.96.
The Petroleum Division said the adjustment reflected global developments, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and other incidentals.
Fuel prices are closely watched because petrol directly affects household transport costs, while high-speed diesel is widely used in freight, agriculture and public transport and can feed into broader distribution costs.
The new rates apply from September 24 under the government’s current fuel-pricing framework.

The Petroleum Division’s September 24, 2026 petroleum-price announcement is the primary government source for the revised rates. Associated Press of Pakistan also reported the Petroleum Division’s notice, confirming petrol at Rs390.12 per litre (down Rs1.93) and high-speed diesel at Rs414.75 per litre (down Rs4.21). These were the rates effective September 24, 2026, not necessarily current pump prices.
