ISLAMABAD: The federal government has reduced the price of petrol by Rs1.60 per litre while increasing the price of high-speed diesel by Rs1.64, with the revised rates effective October 23, 2026.

According to the Petroleum Division, the new petrol price is Rs377.71 per litre, down from Rs379.31.

High-speed diesel now costs Rs391.75 per litre, compared with the previous rate of Rs390.11.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority revised the ex-depot prices under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.

The Petroleum Division said the adjustments reflect changes in international petroleum prices, premiums and other associated costs.

The reduction offers limited relief to motorists, motorcyclists and other petrol users. However, the increase in diesel prices could add to operating costs for transport businesses, agricultural users and commercial vehicles.

Diesel prices are particularly significant for Pakistan’s economy because the fuel is widely used in freight transportation, buses and agricultural machinery.

The government has moved towards more frequent petroleum price revisions amid volatility in international oil markets.

Under the revised mechanism, changes in global prices can be reflected more quickly in domestic fuel rates, making it important for consumers and businesses to monitor announcements regularly.

The latest revision moves the two major fuel prices in opposite directions, providing a small reduction for petrol users while raising costs for diesel consumers.
