ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s notified liquefied petroleum gas price has risen to Rs279.34 per kilogram for October, increasing the cost of an 11.8kg domestic cylinder to Rs3,296.23.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority issued the new indigenous LPG price notification for October 2026, replacing the September rate of about Rs258.64 per kilogram.

The increase works out to roughly Rs20.70 per kilogram, or about 8 per cent. For the standard 11.8kg domestic cylinder, the notified price has increased by Rs244.14 from the previous month.

The revision comes as households and businesses enter the cooler part of the year, when LPG demand can rise in areas where piped natural gas is unavailable, unreliable or insufficient. LPG is widely used for cooking and heating, particularly by consumers outside the main gas distribution networks.

OGRA publishes notified indigenous LPG prices on a monthly basis. The regulator’s schedule provides an official benchmark for the sector and reflects the pricing components used to determine the notified consumer rate.

For households buying a standard domestic cylinder, the most useful comparison is the new cylinder price rather than the per-kilogram figure alone. At Rs3,296.23 for 11.8kg, the October notification represents a noticeable increase in a recurring household energy expense.

Actual market conditions can still vary by location and supply chain. Consumers may encounter differences associated with transportation, distribution and local availability, but the OGRA notification establishes the official monthly price framework.

The October increase also adds to broader energy-cost pressures facing Pakistani consumers. Fuel and gas costs feed directly into household budgets and can also affect commercial transport, food preparation and small businesses that depend on cylinders.

LPG occupies a different part of Pakistan’s energy market from petrol, diesel and piped natural gas, and its price is notified through a separate regulatory process. Changes in one fuel should therefore not be treated as automatically determining the price of another.

For October, the key notified figures are Rs279.34 per kilogram and Rs3,296.23 for an 11.8kg domestic cylinder.

The new rate took effect with the October pricing cycle and will remain the relevant notified benchmark until OGRA issues another revision or the next monthly notification.
