ISLAMABAD — Pakistan has become the first country to join Hong Kong Customs’ ValidAP digital trade verification platform, marking a step forward in international customs cooperation.

Pakistan Single Window connected with the platform on September 25, following an agreement signed by Pakistan and Hong Kong customs authorities earlier in the year.

The new connection allows participating organisations to check whether electronic trade documents are genuine and have been altered.

Trade documents can include certificates, permits and licences used when goods move between countries. Confirming their authenticity is important for businesses and customs officials.

ValidAP uses secure digital technology to check a document’s unique electronic fingerprint. The document itself does not need to be uploaded to the platform for this verification.

This approach can help protect sensitive business information while making document checks more convenient.

Pakistan Single Window is the country’s online system designed to make import and export procedures easier by connecting traders with relevant government agencies.

The integration expands its international links and provides a new way for overseas partners to verify eligible Pakistani trade documents.

Pakistan Customs joined the ValidAP initiative through an agreement signed in May at a regional customs meeting.

The September launch means that cooperation has now moved beyond the agreement stage to an operational digital connection.

As Pakistan seeks to expand exports and improve trade services, secure electronic document verification can support smoother transactions and strengthen confidence between trading partners.

The initiative also highlights Pakistan’s participation in modernising customs procedures across the region.
