The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has notified a positive fuel charges adjustment of Rs1.1086 per kilowatt-hour for August 2026 electricity consumption, to be reflected in October bills. The charge covers eligible categories of ex-Wapda distribution companies and K-Electric. Lifeline consumers, electric-vehicle charging stations and prepaid customers who opted for prepaid tariffs are excluded. Consumers under the incremental consumption package are included. The adjustment is a reconciliation of fuel-generation costs, not a permanent increase in the base tariff. The Central Power Purchasing Agency initially sought a higher adjustment of about Rs1.73 per unit. At the notified rate, 300 eligible units correspond to approximately Rs333 before applicable taxes and other charges. The amount on an individual bill depends on the eligible consumption and tariff category. The regulator has directed companies to reflect the charge in October billing; where a bill has already been issued, recovery may occur subsequently. Consumers should look for the fuel-cost adjustment line rather than assume every component of their tariff has increased.
