KARACHI, October 26, 2026: A vessel carrying approximately 4,000 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas from Bahrain has arrived at Port Qasim as Pakistan faces concerns over LPG availability and rising prices.
The vessel, Yellowstone, berthed at the port on Saturday, October 24, at approximately 8:42 a.m., according to information released by the Port Qasim Authority.
The authority said handling of the imported cargo had begun, adding to supplies intended for domestic and commercial consumers.
The shipment comes amid pressure on the LPG market, where supply disruptions and higher prices have affected households and businesses.
LPG is particularly important in areas without reliable access to piped natural gas. It is also widely used by restaurants, small businesses and other commercial establishments.
The arrival of an additional cargo could help improve availability, although the extent of its impact will depend on how quickly the imported fuel reaches distributors and retailers.
A single shipment does not necessarily resolve wider supply shortages or guarantee an immediate reduction in consumer prices.
Separately, the resumption of cross-border trade through the Gabd-Rimdan crossing with Iran on Saturday is expected to facilitate the movement of trucks carrying LPG and other commodities after a suspension lasting about a week.
Developments at ports and land crossings are significant because imported supplies form an important part of Pakistan’s LPG market.
Consumers will be watching whether improved supply translates into more stable retail prices in the coming days.
For now, the arrival of the Bahrain cargo represents an additional source of fuel supply rather than confirmation that market conditions have returned to normal.
