Pakistan’s urea sales reached 611,000 tonnes in September 2026, rising 43% from a year earlier but falling 13% from August.

The strong year-on-year increase partly reflects a low base and improved crop activity, according to market commentary reported with the industry data. The month-on-month decline was attributed mainly to seasonal factors.

Industry urea inventory fell to about 650,000 tonnes in September from roughly 750,000 tonnes in August, taking stocks to a nine-month low.

For the first nine months of 2026, urea sales increased about 5% to 4.4 million tonnes.

The broader fertilizer picture was mixed. DAP sales fell 39% year-on-year and 50% month-on-month to about 59,000 tonnes in September.

The figures suggest stronger year-on-year urea movement alongside tighter inventories, but the 43% increase should not be read as a simple demand boom because the comparison was helped by last year’s low base.
