Pakistan’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs has directed officials to accelerate work on establishing a one-window facilitation centre in Karachi for businesses dealing with ports and maritime services.
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry issued the direction during a meeting on measures to improve maritime-sector facilitation.
The proposed centre is intended to bring relevant government services under one roof, reducing the need for businesses to deal separately with multiple offices for port-related matters.
The meeting also considered measures to simplify ship registration and fishing-vessel registration, alongside initiatives involving maritime trade, fisheries and the blue economy.
The centre is still being established and should not be treated as an already operational facility. Details of its final service menu and implementation arrangements will depend on the government’s rollout.
