Pakistan’s large-scale manufacturing output increased 1.85% during July–August of fiscal year 2026–27 compared with the same period a year earlier, according to provisional Pakistan Bureau of Statistics data.

August figures

The Quantum Index of Manufacturing stood at 113.19 in August 2026. Output increased 0.67% from August 2025 but declined 4.96% from July 2026. The two comparisons measure different periods and should not be confused.

Uneven sector performance

The official July–August figures show declines of 2.98% in textiles, 10.78% in chemicals, 6.47% in pharmaceuticals, 11.48% in iron and steel products, and 8.86% in food manufacturing.

These declines demonstrate why a positive headline index does not mean every industry is recovering. The data do not establish the causes of each sector’s weakness, which may reflect different demand, cost and supply conditions.

What to watch

The manufacturing figures are provisional and can be revised. Future releases will indicate whether growth broadens across industries or remains uneven.
