The federal government’s Task Force on Export and Industrial Enhancement has invited manufacturers to submit practical proposals aimed at improving productivity, product quality and access to international markets.
The request was made during a meeting chaired on Saturday by Haroon Akhtar Khan, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production.
Representatives from the leather, sports goods, cutlery, carpet and other export-oriented industries attended the meeting, along with officials from the Ministry of Industries and Production.
The discussions focused on identifying obstacles to industrial growth and developing measures that could strengthen Pakistan’s export performance.
Khan asked industry representatives to submit specific recommendations addressing the challenges faced by their sectors. The proposals are expected to cover improvements in manufacturing efficiency, product standards and opportunities to enter new overseas markets.
He said consultation with businesses was necessary to develop policies that respond to operational conditions rather than relying solely on government assessments.
The task force is conducting a series of meetings with industrial stakeholders, with further consultations planned.
The government has identified export growth and industrial expansion as priorities for economic development. Sectors represented at the meeting are established contributors to Pakistan’s manufactured exports and employment.
The latest discussions form part of the task force’s consultative process. No new export incentive, funding allocation or implementation deadline was announced in the meeting report.
The next stage will involve receiving and assessing industry proposals for possible policy measures.
