The Supreme Courts of Pakistan and South Korea have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen judicial cooperation, professional training and the exchange of expertise.

The agreement was signed in Seoul on November 2 during an official visit by Pakistan’s Chief Justice, who met South Korean Chief Justice Jo Hee-de.

Focus on judicial training and technology

According to an official statement, the agreement provides a framework for judicial exchanges, research, professional development and cooperation between the two countries’ court systems.

It also covers digital court services, electronic case management, cybersecurity and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in judicial administration.

The two judiciaries plan to explore study visits, expert exchanges, conferences and regular institutional dialogue.

Learning from South Korea’s court systems

During the visit, Pakistan’s Chief Justice also met South Korea’s Minister of National Court Administration, Justice Noh Gyeongpil.

He visited the Supreme Court of Korea’s IT Centre to learn about digital court systems and technology-supported judicial services.

The agreement is intended to support institutional modernisation and knowledge-sharing as Pakistan continues efforts to improve judicial administration.
