ISLAMABAD, October 26, 2026: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has rejected reports that its core committee has been sidelined or that its decision-making powers have been transferred to another party body.
The clarification follows media reports suggesting that the party intended to give greater authority to its parliamentary leadership amid internal discussions over political strategy.
PTI spokesperson Naeem Haider Panjutha disputed suggestions that the core committee’s role had been reduced, according to Dawn.
He acknowledged that proposals to strengthen the parliamentary party had been discussed but indicated that no final decision had been made to replace the existing arrangement.
The controversy comes as PTI faces difficult political and organisational decisions, including questions about parliamentary coordination and its strategy concerning imprisoned party founder Imran Khan.
Separate media reporting had suggested that elected lawmakers would take a leading role in future policy decisions, citing unnamed party sources.
The differing accounts highlight the importance of distinguishing internal proposals from formally adopted party decisions.
PTI’s core committee remains an important part of the party’s organisational structure, while its parliamentary representatives coordinate legislative and political activity.
For now, the party’s public position is that reports of a completed transfer of authority are inaccurate. Any formal restructuring would require clearer confirmation from the party leadership.
