ISLAMABAD, October 27, 2026: The federal government has informed the National Assembly that 19 Public Sector Development Programme projects, with a combined reported value of Rs181.37 billion, are under implementation by the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry provided the figures during Monday’s Question Hour.

Of the 19 projects, 13 were described as functional, while work was continuing to make six new projects operational.

Details presented to the House showed that 11 projects fall within the social sector, three concern governance, two involve infrastructure, and one each relates to mass media, economic development and information technology.

The distribution places the largest share of the ministry’s reported projects in social development.

Responding to concerns about delays, the minister said project schedules varied and that difficulties affecting individual schemes should not be taken as evidence that all development work was behind schedule.

He also addressed the Sukkur–Karachi Motorway, acknowledging previous delays and describing the project as a government priority.

The available parliamentary account does not provide a complete list of the 19 schemes or establish whether the motorway is included among them.

Project-level allocations and expenditure records are published through the Planning Ministry’s PSDP documentation, which provides a basis for examining how development funds are distributed.

The figures presented in Parliament highlight the scale of the ministry’s current portfolio and the prominence of social-sector schemes within it.
