Pakistan has called for improved access to export financing and stronger trade cooperation among member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan made the remarks at the 42nd meeting of the OIC’s Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) in Istanbul.

Support for exporters and small businesses

According to the Ministry of Commerce, the minister emphasised affordable financing for small and medium-sized enterprises seeking to enter international markets.

He highlighted the role of Pakistan’s Export-Import Bank (EXIM Bank), which provides export credit insurance, guarantees and refinancing facilities to help businesses manage trade risks.

Pakistan is also expanding Islamic financing options, including Murabaha, Salam and Ijarah, to improve access to funding.

Digital trade financing

Jam Kamal Khan said Pakistan was working to digitise export-credit processes through online platforms connecting banks and development finance institutions.

The initiative aims to reduce processing delays and make financing more accessible to smaller exporters.

He also encouraged greater cooperation in technology, sustainable development and private-sector investment among OIC countries.

The minister said stronger trade partnerships could help member states expand exports and improve their competitiveness in international markets.
