Pakistan and Bangladesh have discussed expanding economic cooperation, with manufacturing, textiles and private-sector partnerships emerging as potential areas for closer engagement.
The discussions took place in Islamabad on November 2 during a meeting between Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and a Bangladeshi delegation led by Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Bangladesh’s adviser on finance and planning.
Focus on trade and investment
According to Pakistan’s Press Information Department, the two sides exchanged views on economic reforms, fiscal management, investment promotion and ways to strengthen economic resilience.
They also discussed challenges facing developing economies, including the need to maintain economic stability while pursuing sustainable growth.
Both countries recognised opportunities to deepen cooperation in manufacturing and textiles, including by encouraging stronger connections between their business communities.
Potential for industrial partnerships
In a separate meeting with the Bangladeshi delegation, Pakistan’s adviser on industries and production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, identified solar technology, battery manufacturing and electric vehicles as promising areas for cooperation.
He highlighted technology transfer, joint ventures and industrial partnerships as possible ways to strengthen bilateral economic ties.
The discussions indicate renewed interest in practical economic cooperation.
