ISLAMABAD, November 4, 2026: The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has approved Lotte Chemical Pakistan Limited’s proposed acquisition of a shareholding in Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited from Engro Corporation.

The regulator announced its decision on October 20 following a Phase-I review under the Competition Act, 2010.

Lotte Chemical Pakistan manufactures purified terephthalic acid, a material used in polyester and plastic packaging production.

Engro Polymer & Chemicals produces polyvinyl chloride (PVC), caustic soda, hydrogen peroxide and other chemical products.

Regulator Finds No Major Competition Concerns

The CCP found that the companies did not directly compete in the relevant product markets and that the proposed transaction was unlikely to substantially reduce competition.

Further corporate disclosures would be needed to confirm its completion and final ownership arrangements.
